The RSS Version 3 Homepage
Welcome to the RSS Version 3 Homepage. This site strives to create expanded and complete standards for syndication of online content - more specifically, it aims to recompose the RSS Version 2.0 standard due to underdocumentation and lack of concern towards modern necessities. Our goals are to provide at least one complete standard for common use under the Attribution/Share Alike Common License.
This site is maintained by Jonathan Avidan, who also edits the specifications and other documents related to this site - any private queries should be directed to him by mail, while any public queries or suggestion should be placed at the Message Board.
The RSS standard of syndication using XML began as a Netscape project which produced the 0.9x standards (the 0.91 and 0.92 ones being common even today). A standard of similar name and purpose, entitled with the version number 1.0, was produced - yet it contradicts all other standards, being based on RDF, and thus remains out of the current standard's scope, as is the similar in purpose though unrelated Atom standard.
The current standard, RSS 3 Class (which engulfs RSS 3 Lite, RSS 3 Full, RCDL and RRDL), is based on RSS 2.0, which was offered by the Berkmen Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School under the License, authored by Dave Winer (other credited authors: Roger Cadenhead, Adam Curry and Steve Zellers). This is a derivative work which is meant to replace the 2.0 version. For more information concerning the relationship of RSS 3 to RSS 2.0, see the Requirements page.

How can you help out?
Contribute, contribute and then do some work. Contribute privately by sending the editor an email with your suggestions, alterations and bribes. Contribute publically by bringing your suggestions up in the Message Board and discuss them with the members. Also, supporting the standard, linking to this page etc. would be a great help. All other questions are available in the FAQ.
We are in need of volunteers to run the Message Board, manage the different sections, etc. Any takers? Email .
